Breakthrough congratulated 26 seniors for their determination and commitment to completing the 6-year Breakthrough program and wished them well as they embark onto college on June 14. 100% of seniors will be enrolling into college for the 2018-2019 school year, with one enlisting into the military. The event was attended by current Breakthrough high school students and countless extremely proud families. We are excited to see our seniors start their college journey as the first class of Breakthrough students who will be receiving support from the program through college graduation. Our students view graduating college as an accomplishment that not only will positively impact their lives, but is a goal they want attain for their families, siblings, community and others who have invested in them. The event was a way to recap successes of the high school program, highlight students who have excelled academically this school year and celebrate our graduating seniors all while sharing a meal with families

We recognize that graduating college is not easy, Breakthrough strives to support all of our students through the implementation of our five-year strategic plan enabling the program to offer programming focused on guiding them throughout college. We are extremely proud that our seniors are breaking through countless obstacles and empowering themselves by attaining a higher education. Monika, a San Juan Hills High School graduate who will be attending UC Merced as a Fiat Lux Scholar in the fall noted that at College Bound Celebration, “it felt good to be reunited with my fellow classmates and seeing them be successful was moving. I’m glad to have Breakthrough there because they keep me in check and support me in completing everything that’s necessary to be prepared for college.” To all our students: Keep up the great work! We are proud of all your accomplishments thus far and look forward to seeing your many more accomplishments in college!
