HOMESTAY FAQ’S:

WHO ARE BREAKTHROUGH TEACHING FELLOWS?
Breakthrough Teaching Fellows are outstanding college students from across the nation who have been selected from a rigorous application process to teach BT middle school students during the summer program. In order to attract top college students from around the nation, we look for homestays every year.

WHEN WILL THE TEACHING FELLOW BE STAYING WITH US?
Teachers arrive in Orange County on June 10th and Teacher Orientation will begin on June 12th. Our last day with teachers is August 7th.

WHAT ARE THEIR WORK HOURS LIKE?
During the 8 weeks, Breakthrough teachers will be on the St. Margaret’s campus from around 7:00am–5:30pm.

WHAT IS THE SUMMER PROGRAM?
A 6-week summer program to support educational and leadership growth for our middle-school BT students. Our students show a 90% improvement in assessments during our middle school 2023 summer program.

WHAT SHOULD WE PROVIDE THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER?
Please provide a comfortable place to sleep, shower, and work. We ask that you also provide access to food and laundry facilities.

DO WE HAVE TO PREPARE MEALS FOR OUR HOST TEACHING FELLOW?

You do not need to prepare meals for your host son/daughter, however, we ask that you provide access to food. Teachers will receive breakfast and lunch during the program days but will need dinner on weeknights and all meals on weekends.

HOW WILL OUR TEACHING FELLOW GET TO AND FROM BREAKTHROUGH?
Breakthrough will provide transportation to the St.Margaret’s campus. We organize carpools.
