Why our volunteers serve:

I have volunteered with Breakthrough for the past two years. I love helping students pass the threshold of understanding, because I know how frustrating it can be not to understand a topic. My parents are both immigrants, so I understand the importance of leveling the playing field and giving everyone an equal and fair chance.

FAQ

Q: Do I have to make a long-term commitment to volunteering?

A: We love building long-term relationships with our volunteers, but you don’t have to make a specific commitment. We are happy to work with your schedule to make sure you can volunteer. (However, if you are a College Mentor, there is a specific commitment).

Q: Can I volunteer at Breakthrough to meet my community service hours?

A: Absolutely! We are happy to verify any community service hours (Key Club, AVID, etc.)

Q: I am a parent, but my child is not a Breakthrough student. Can I still volunteer?

A: Yes! We are thrilled to partner with all community members.
