The 10th summer of Breakthrough SJC is around the corner and we are about to welcome twenty-seven new students to the program. The past couple of months we have been recruiting Marco Forster Middle School students to make the six-year commitment to Breakthrough SJC. Prospective students were asked to submit transcripts, letters of recommendations, and write short answer responses and an essay as part of their Breakthrough application.

On Monday, forty-two rising 7th grade students and two rising 8th grade students came to St. Margaret’s Episcopal School for interviews, the final portion of our new student application. The forty-four applicants were interviewed by eighteen current Breakthrough high school students who volunteered their time. Breakthrough student and Dana Hills High School sophomore Litzy said she enjoyed interviewing students because, “they’re the next generation of Breakthrough and they’re so smart they’re going to make Breakthrough even better.”

Thank you to all of the parents and students for applying to Breakthrough SJC. New student decisions will be made and sent out on March 27th, we look forward to working with Breakthrough’s class of 2021!
