Our ninth consecutive summer program here in San Juan Capistrano is shaping up to be one of our finest yet! After a rigorous application and hiring process, we are excited to announce our 2014 Summer Teaching Team is set. We welcome five local Instructional Coaches, twenty college-age Teaching Fellows, and twenty-nine new middle school students into our Breakthrough SJC family.

On June 17th, Breakthrough Teaching Fellows will travel to San Juan Capistrano from institutions including Yale University, Dartmouth College, College of William & Mary, University of Florida, University of Nebraska, UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Berkeley, and Brown University. We appreciate our ten Homestay families who have generously opened up their homes to host our out-of-state Teaching Fellows. Homestays allows us to recruit exceptional role models and leaders from across the nation to teach our Breakthrough students each summer.

We also welcome twenty-nine new Marco Forster Middle School students into the Breakthrough SJC family! We had numerous strong candidates this year which made the selection process very competitive. All applicants submitted short and long essays, parent essays, teacher recommendations, and completed in-person interviews. Congratulations to the new Breakthrough Class of 2020, we will see you in June!

Save the Date!! Visitor’s Day is July 22, 2014. Come witness the magic of the Breakthrough SJC summer program and meet our outstanding students and teachers!
